About The Yoga
Kundalini Yoga
Kundalini Yoga landed in the West in 1969 thanks to the courage of Yogi Bhajan. Classes began in parks, and warehouses in Los Angeles, California. The students were often hippies who sought a deeper connection with the One Consciousness, but were using drugs and sex to make the connection. The early classes taught these brave souls how to make that same connection using the power of breath, posture, and mantra. (which are everpresent and legal!)
Kundalini yoga uses special breathing patterns in conjunction with complementary dynamic postures to loosen the spine, increase the blood circulation, activate the glandular system, and restore the nervous system. Mantras are often chanted in class as a means of sound therapy.
Kundalini Yoga achieves its greatest benefits in those who combine it with clean living. To help people understand what is clean living, Yogi Bhajan founded the 3HO community - Happy, Healthy, Holy Organization. More information about 3HO and Kundalini Yoga is available on their website at www.3ho.org.
