About the Instructors
The MYC began as a Kundalini-specific yoga center. We have since branched out to include other forms of yoga. Currently, we are blessed to have six amazing active instructors with very different teaching styles:
John Dawson, Jote Kaur, Mahan Kalpa Singh, Matt Stuebe, Siri Krishna Singh and, Siri Prakash Kaur.
John Dawson (Siri Gobind Singh)
Jote Kaur
Jote Kaur has been practicing yoga for the past twelve years. Jote was
naturally drawn to the yogic lifestyle as a young adult. She has
practiced many forms of yoga throughout her exploration and has found
tremendous benefits from the practice of kundalini yoga and daily early
morning sadhana. She says,
"Kundalini yoga takes a very scientific
approach
in dealing with the systems of the body. I appreciate having the ability
to use yoga to produce noticeable effects on my body such as internal
cleansing and balancing my hormones. The impact on my emotional stability
has been very profound as well. Most of all though, I come back to the
effect it has had on my mind. I have definitely learned a lot about
directing my focus using the technology of Kundalini Yoga. The effect of
practicing and teaching kundalini yoga has been and continues to be
extremely rewarding affecting every level of my awareness. If you are
seeking your soul's full expression, kundalini yoga is a tool not to be
missed."
Mahan Kalpa Singh (Paul) Mahern
Like many people, once Mahan Kalpa Singh started a personal practice in Kundalini Yoga, he wanted more. Starting his practice in 2000, he studied directly with Devta Kidd, then went on to complete Kundalini Yoga Teacher training in the Fall of 2002 at the Guru Ram Das Ashram in New Mexico. Mahan Kalpa Singh's teaching is pure and strong, and will inspire and motivate you to be curious about your highest potential.
A sound engineer by trade, Mahan Kalpa Singh has been interweaving Kundalini into all aspects of his life and is a strong believer in the power of the sound current.
Matt Stuebe
Siri Krishna Singh (Mike Ji)
Siri Krishna Singh has been practicing Kundalini Yoga since 2004, completed 3HO teacher training in the summer of 2006, and began teaching at the Midland Yoga Center that same year.
He believes in the bliss experienced while practicing Kundalini and the soul liberation it can bring about.
To his life and to his classes, Siri Krishna brings a serious curiosity, a warm heart, and musical celebration.
Siri Prakash Kaur (Donna)
Siri Prakash began practicing Kundalini Yoga in January 2004. She maintains a strong home practice by choosing a personally meaningful kriya and meditation to do for 40 or 90 consecutive days and then incorporating these into her own morning Sadhana.
"Since I started practicing Kundalini Yoga I no longer have the feeling that I am searching or waiting. I now have the tool I need to keep me grounded and uplifted and to help me grow. I am honored to be able to share this with others."
Siri Prakash lives happily on a wooded property outside of Martinsville with her husband and daughter, and is currently attending nursing school.
